POSITION HIGHLIGHTS (See details under EXAMPLES OF DUTIES section)

Seasonal Resource Assistants with the Remediation Division will assist with a variety of administrative duties, including the Division’s document scanning project.  The scanning project includes working with all Remediation staff to gather and review site documents and prepare them for scanning by a contracted vendor.  You will also learn about the variety of programs in each Division and become knowledgeable on the various type of documents and correspondence received and processed.  Applicants should be well organized and willing to work in a team setting.  As time allows, you may also be asked to work on other Division tasks, including researching and updating program information.

Schedule: Thirty-five (35) to forty (40) hours per week, Monday - Friday from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (daily hours flexible).  Part time schedules will be considered. College students are encouraged to apply!

Anticipated Duration: Approximately six (6) months and no more than 1,030 hours.

Salary: Depends on relevant education and/or experience. There are no benefits with this position.

PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

In the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, as a limited duration employee, performs one or more of a variety of tasks and assigned duties of a seasonal nature.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Assist the Records Management Coordinator on file management tasks and may work with a project manager on large cleanup projects to gather and organize information on site history, participate in the planning and logistics of the Remediation Roundtable, and gather EPA reporting requirements for sites within the RCRA program.  Other remedial programs/duties seasonal employees may be involved with include: 

  • Potable Water Program;
  • Significant Environmental Hazard Notification Program;
  • Brownfield Redevelopment;
  • Environmental Land Use Restrictions;
  • Engineered Controls.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

Ability to follow instructions.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Incumbents in this class who are assigned as supervisors of small recreational units will perform emergency first aid as needed and will be required to obtain and retain a Basic First Aid Certificate.

2. Incumbents in this class may be required for certain positions to meet any of the following:

a. Proof of possession of a valid Motor Vehicle Operator license.

b. Possession of a valid license to apply pesticides.

c. College training in a specific field.

d. Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification may be required by specific State facilities.

3. Incumbents performing lifeguard services must have and retain an American Red Cross (ARC) Lifeguarding Certification (includes CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Basic First Aid). An EMT or MRT certification may be substituted for the CPR and First Aid requirements.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Incumbents in this class must possess and maintain adequate physical strength and stamina to perform the duties of the class.

2. Incumbents performing lifeguard services must be able to demonstrate American Red Cross (ARC) waterfront lifeguarding swimming skills.
