The State of Connecticut, Department of Social Services (DSS) – Child Support Division – is currently recruiting for a Social Services Investigations Supervisor – Child Support in Norwich, CT.
DSS is seeking a dedicated and experienced Social Services Investigations Supervisor – Child Support to join our team and help ensure the effective delivery of critical child support services. In this leadership role, you will supervise and support staff responsible for complex investigations and case activities, while ensuring unit operations are consistent with established policies, procedures, and quality standards. You will have the opportunity to lead a team, develop staff through training and performance management, resolve difficult and unusual cases, and collaborate with internal and external partners to achieve positive outcomes for children and families. Your leadership will help strengthen program effectiveness, promote accountability, and ensure high-quality services throughout the child support system.

PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)
In the Department of Social Services this class is accountable for supervising a unit engaged in performing investigations relevant to the enforcement of Child Support obligations.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
- Schedules, assigns, oversees and reviews the work of staff;
- Provides staff training and assistance including identifying, planning and implementing training;
- Conducts performance evaluations;
- Determines priorities and plans unit work;
- Establishes and maintains unit procedures;
- Develops or makes recommendations on development of policies and standards;
- Acts as liaison with other operating units, cooperating agencies and outside officials regarding unit policies and procedures;
- Prepares reports and correspondence;
- Consults with and directs staff in difficult, unusual and/or complex case resolution;
- Monitors and coordinates performance of local cooperative agencies;
- Implements personnel policies and procedures;
- Prepares unit corrective action plans to comply with quality review procedures;
- Participates in court proceedings when necessary;
- Performs related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Seven (7) years of experience in investigation of real and personal assets related to child support obligations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE
One (1) year of the General Experience must have been as a working supervisor of staff conducting child support investigations.
NOTE: For state employees this experience is interpreted at the level of a Social Services Lead Investigator-Child Support.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED

College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree.

A Master's degree in a closely related area may be substituted for one (1) additional year of the General Experience.

For state employees one (1) year of experience as a Social Services Lead Investigator (Child Support) may be substituted for the General and Special Experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Incumbents in this class may be required to travel.
