At the State of Connecticut, Connecticut Technical Education and Career System (CTECS) we are recruiting for a Art Instructor to join our team at Platt Technical High School in Milford, CT.
Join our team as an Art Instructor and inspire students to explore their creativity, develop technical artistic skills, and build confidence through meaningful visual expression. We are seeking a passionate and student-centered educator who is committed to delivering engaging, high-quality instruction across high school art curricula while fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of art media, instructional pedagogy, and differentiated teaching practices that support the success of all learners.
In this role, the Art Instructor will design and implement purposeful lesson plans aligned with instructional goals and curriculum standards, while utilizing a variety of teaching strategies, assessments, and creative learning opportunities to engage students both intellectually and artistically. The successful candidate will collaborate with guidance staff, special education personnel, and support service educators to ensure all student needs are met, including the implementation of IEP and 504 accommodations and modifications.
The Art Instructor will cultivate a positive classroom culture built on mutual respect, creativity, and active learning. Responsibilities also include maintaining effective communication with students and families, participating in professional development and collaborative school initiatives, and upholding the highest standards of professionalism in accordance with the Connecticut Code of Professional Responsibility. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by encouraging artistic growth, critical thinking, and lifelong appreciation for the arts within a dynamic educational environment.
To be considered for this position, Art Instructors must possess an active State of Connecticut teaching certificate in one of the following areas:
