At the State of Connecticut, Connecticut Technical Education and Career System (CTECS) we are recruiting for a Special Education Instructor to join our team at Bullard-Havens Technical High School in Bridgeport, CT.
We are seeking a dedicated and student-centered Special Education Instructor to join our team and support learners in achieving academic, behavioral, and career readiness success. This role is ideal for an educator who is passionate about inclusive practices, skilled in collaboration, and committed to preparing students with diverse learning needs for meaningful participation in both school and the skilled workforce.
The Special Education Instructor will play a vital role in planning, delivering, and adapting instruction to meet individualized student needs while ensuring compliance with all special education requirements. This includes case management responsibilities, development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), progress monitoring, and collaboration with academic and trade instructors to create engaging, differentiated learning experiences. The instructor will also foster a positive and structured classroom environment that promotes independence, self-advocacy, and appropriate workplace behaviors.
In addition to instructional duties, the ideal candidate will maintain accurate records, facilitate team meetings, conduct student evaluations, and actively engage with families, colleagues, and community partners. A strong commitment to professional growth, ethical practice, and adherence to state and district policies is essential. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by empowering students with the skills and confidence needed for lifelong success.
To be considered for this position, Special Education Instructors must possess an active State of Connecticut teaching certificate in one of the following areas:
