The State of Connecticut, Developmental Services (DDS) – Central Office – is accepting applications for one (1) full-time Skilled Maintainer position located in Newington, CT.
We are seeking a dedicated and dependable Skill Maintainer to support the safe, clean, and efficient operation of our facilities. This role is essential to maintaining a welcoming and secure environment for both staff and individuals in our care. The ideal candidate brings a strong work ethic, hands-on maintenance experience, and a commitment to high standards.
In this position, you will be responsible for the upkeep of grounds, service areas, and walkways, including snow and ice removal during inclement weather. You will operate and maintain grounds equipment, perform routine and life safety inspections, and carry out general maintenance and repairs across large facilities and residential buildings. Attention to detail and compliance are critical, as you will also prepare documentation to meet regulatory standards, including those required by DPH, OSFM, and licensing agencies.
This role requires solid knowledge of one or more building trades, the ability to use computer-based work order systems, and a readiness to respond to emergency situations as they arise.
