Duplicating Services Supervisor 1 within the Operations Division of the Operations Bureau.
Position highlights
This position is accountable for maintaining the daily operations and production of the Departments duplicating unit supporting our mission. Along with other duties as assigned, we would entrust you to:
- Operate various types of duplicating and finishing equipment in the production of outgoing letters, bills, inserts, and brochures requiring basic layout and design;
- Select appropriate paper stock for each job output and which equipment would be best for optimal performance;
- Maintain and provide quality control for the variety of electronic files and paper output.
This is a full-time (37.5 hours) Monday-Friday position with specific work hours, that will be determined by operational needs, located at our office in Hartford.

Selection Plan

PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)
This class is accountable for supervising the activities of a duplication unit or for acting as an assistant to a Duplicating Services Supervisor 2 in a large operation (considering volume, numbers supervised and complexity).
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
- Schedules, assigns, oversees and reviews the work of staff;
- Provides staff training and assistance;
- Conducts performance evaluations;
- Determines priorities and plans unit work;
- Establishes and maintains unit procedures;
- Develops or makes recommendations on the development of policies and standards;
- Acts as liaison with other operating units, agencies and outside officials regarding unit policies and procedures;
- Prepares reports and correspondence;
- Performs repairs on all equipment including auxiliary equipment;
- Oversees inventory and reorders supplies when necessary;
- May supervise the operation of check processing equipment;
- Performs related duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Three (3) years of experience in the operation, adjustment and maintenance of duplicating equipment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with postal and shipping services, including knowledge of applicable regulations rates and categories of mail and packages
- Experience operating, monitoring, or troubleshooting production or office equipment in a print, duplicating, or technical services environment
- Experience with office and document production software, including Microsoft Teams, document formatting, and basic file preparation for printing or distribution
- Experience leading, training, or supervising staff in a production, technical, or operational setting
- Experience providing clear instructions and interacting professionally with staff and internal customers
- Experience assigning work, monitoring productivity, and supporting staff performance in a deadline driven environment
- Experience developing supervisory skills such as coaching employees, addressing conflict, and supporting performance management
- Experience coordinating high volume workloads while maintaining established deadlines, quality standards, and service expectations
- Experience developing, following, or maintaining standard operating procedures related to equipment use, safety, and quality control
- Experience with networked or shared equipment environments, including basic connectivity, file handling, and job processing concepts
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Incumbents in this class must have adequate physical strength, stamina, physical agility and visual and auditory acuity, and must maintain such physical fitness as to be able to perform the duties.
- A physical examination may be required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Incumbents may be required to lift moderate weight; may be exposed to noise from duplicating equipment.
