Do you have experience performing skilled trade functions in one or more trade areas? If so, we invite you to consider the General Trades Worker position with Connecticut Developmental Services!
The State of Connecticut, Developmental Services (DDS) – Central Office – is accepting applications for one (1) full-time General Trades Worker (GTW) position located in Putnam, CT.
We are seeking a skilled and dependable General Trades Worker (GTW) to support the ongoing maintenance and care of eight Community Living Arrangements (including two Respite homes), two office buildings, and Camp Quinebaug. This is a vital position responsible for ensuring our facilities remain safe, functional, and fully compliant with licensing standards and State Fire Marshal requirements. This role is essential to preserving the health, safety, and well-being of the individuals we serve.
The General Trades Worker plays a key role in both planned improvement projects and urgent repairs — from renovating bathrooms and kitchens and replacing water heaters to addressing emergency maintenance issues as they arise. This position requires the application of advanced trade skills and knowledge of codes and standard practices across multiple disciplines, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVACR, glazing, masonry, and painting.
The GTW may operate trucks, power tools, perform snow removal, operate lawn and garden equipment, prepare estimates of time, materials, and personnel for assigned projects, and maintain accurate records.
If you are a highly skilled trades professional who takes pride in maintaining safe, high-quality facilities and responding effectively to both routine and emergency needs, we encourage you to apply and become an essential part of our team.
