In the Labor Department this class is accountable for conducting investigations into employers compliance with minimum wage and hour law.

• Knowledge of
  • relevant state and federal wage and hour laws;
  • payroll methods;

  • arithmetical computation skills;
• Ability to investigate.

Five (5) years of experience in labor management relations involving rates of pay, hours of work, conditions of employment and regulations of wages OR with payroll, timekeeping or accounting practices.

• College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree.
• A Master's degree in business or public administration, finance or a related field may be substituted for the General Experience.
• Successful completion of a Connecticut Careers Trainee program approved by the Department of Administrative Services may be substituted for the General Experience.

• Experience researching, interpreting, and consulting on CT labor laws and regulations, and employment practices.
• Experience gathering and documenting written and verbal information.
• Experience collecting and codifying numerical data.
• Experience with conducting interviews, resolving conflict, and communicating through a variety of platforms.
• Experience working with people from different cultural, ethnic, social, and economic backgrounds.
• Experience in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Teams, and Excel.

Incumbents in this class may be required to travel.
