The State of Connecticut, Department of Labor (DOL) – Wage and Workforce Standards Unit – is currently recruiting for multiple Wage and Hour Investigator 1 positions located in Wethersfield, CT.
Are you detail-oriented, analytical, and motivated by meaningful public service? The Connecticut Department of Labor’s Wage and Workplace Standards Division is seeking dedicated professionals to join our team as a Wage and Hour Investigator 1. In this role, you will play a vital part in protecting the rights of Connecticut workers and employers while ensuring compliance with state and federal wage and hour laws.
This opportunity is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with numbers and reviewing records with precision and accuracy. As an investigator, you will audit payroll and time records, analyze data, and apply labor laws and regulations to real-world situations. Your problem-solving skills will help you assess complex situations, determine compliance, and support fair workplace practices across the state.
You will conduct investigations into wage complaints, interview employees and employers, and lead fact-finding conferences. In addition, you will transcribe wage claims, prepare detailed reports, and assemble evidence for hearings or court proceedings. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, as you will clearly explain findings and work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders.
