Introduction

The Executive Residence Attendant position is for a trusted, dependable, and detail-oriented individual responsible for keeping the Governor’s Residence looking its best and running smoothly. This includes but is not limited to housekeeping and cooking, to ensure the cleanliness, presentation, and preservation of this historic Governor’s Residence at its finest.
APPOINTMENT
This position is appointed by the Governor in accordance with the provisions of Sections 3-1 and 5-198 (10) and (18) of the Connecticut General Statutes.
THE ROLE
As the Executive Residence Attendant, you’ll make sure the home stays clean and well cared for, while also preparing delicious meals for private dinners and official events. If you’re passionate about cooking a variety of dishes—like authentic Asian and Mexican cuisine—and take pride in creating a comfortable space, we’d love to meet you.
We are seeking a detail-oriented professional who combines estate-level stewardship with refined culinary expertise to support the Governor's Residence.

PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)
In the Office of the Governor or Lieutenant Governor this class serves as an assistant in a wide variety of administrative, staff or liaison functions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Housekeeping
- Experience handling delicate materials and finishes with care, including antiques and specialty surfaces
- Experience in maintaining the integrity of interiors while performing cleaning and maintenance tasks using appropriate preservation methods
- Experience cleaning and caring for items such as silver, crystal, fine china, and wood surfaces
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks safely and efficiently
- Experience cleaning and maintaining organized spaces, including living areas, guest suites, kitchens, and storage areas
- Experience managing household inventories (e.g., linens, cleaning supplies, tableware, pantry), including organization, labeling, rotation, and reordering
Culinary Expertise
- Experience or certification in culinary arts or a related field
- 2–3+ years of professional culinary experience in residential, hospitality, or fine dining environments
- Experience preparing high-quality meals and managing table settings for daily dining, formal events, and receptions
- Experience in accommodating a variety of dietary needs and preferences, including diverse cuisines
- Experience in food safety and sanitation best practices
Additional Skills
- Experience utilizing organizational skills and record-keeping, including inventory management and documentation
- Experience in maintaining professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed for official functions
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally for procurement
