The State of Connecticut, Connecticut Technical Education and Career System (CTECS) is currently recruiting for a motivated and talented candidate to join our team as a Nutrition and School Meals Associate Education Consultant (Associate Education Consultant) for the Nutrition and School Meals (NSM) IT Services Team.

The Role: 

As a member of our NSM IT Services Team you will be reporting to the Director of Food Services at our Central Office. Along with other duties as needed, this includes but is not limited to:

  • Provide system administration and technical support to the Nutrition and School Meals Team.
  • Maintain and support Titan software and integrations to other state operating systems through automation.  

The Schedule:

  • This position will be based in Hartford, CT. However, travel will be required to school sites regularly to support the school Nutrition POS program and hardware needs.
  • Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm schedule
  • Hours may require flexibility to ensure 24/7 data application needs
  • Candidates may be asked to provide documentation of Automobile Liability coverage of 50,000/100,000

PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

In the Departments of Aging and Disability Services, Education, and the Connecticut Technical Education and Career System assists in planning and executing programs of extensive difficulty and scope for the improvement of education in the State.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Assists a Bureau Chief or Education Consultant in supervising various educational programs and services offered by the State; assists in the development and administration of certain programs of major importance or may develop and administer other programs within the framework of bureau policy; provides professional leadership and guidance to school authorities, professional organizations, students and various community groups and individuals; may assist in directing the routine functioning of the bureau; performs related duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

Considerable knowledge of the philosophy and methods of education with particular reference to the field concerned; teaching skill; ability to prepare reports; ability to deal effectively with others.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE

An earned advanced degree and five (5) years of professional experience OR in lieu thereof an equivalent combination of experience and training approved by the Board of Education.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Technical experience supporting a Nutrition and School Meals unit is preferred, including:

  • School Nutrition hardware procurement
  • Nutrition software maintenance
  • NSM office laptop maintenance and configuration with current POS systems
  • Nutrition Data server
  • Maintaining Test server/Test environment
  • API/SFTP
  • Basic firewall and IP troubleshooting for nutrition software and automations
  • SQL coding
  • Maintaining supplemental nutrition devices such as bar code scanners, therma   pens,  padlets, surface go-2s
  • Providing system maintenance and running utility tools such as backups, patches, and manual version upgrades for nutrition software
  • LAN/WAN familiarity

Experience in Customer Service, or other Customer-focused role.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Incumbents in this class in certain positions may be required to possess an appropriate certificate issued by State Board of Education.
