The State of Connecticut, Connecticut State Library (CSL), has one available opportunity for a Library Specialist – Adult Services and Community Engagement Consultant. The incumbent in this position would be reporting to the Director of the Division of Library Development. This is a specialized professional position responsible for providing leadership, education and technical assistance in the areas of adult services, community engagement, public libraries, and facilities management specifically, in the areas of readers advisory; adult collections; adult programming; and contributes to the development and implementation of the Division of Library Development Libguides and social media tools. They would also be responsible for partnering with state, regional and national organizations to identify emerging trends in adult services, resource sharing, services to older adults, community engagement and project management in public libraries. Other duties include performing complex professional duties in the delivery of library information and consultant services on a statewide basis. Consultants provide liaison services to assigned regional areas of CT libraries and have considerable knowledge of adult collection development.
This is a full time, 40 hours per week position, Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm. This position is located at the Middletown Library Service Center, 786 S Main St, Middletown, CT 06457.

• 5 years’ experience adult reference services in public libraries;
• 5 years’ experience resource sharing in public libraries;
• 5 years’ experience readers advisory and collection development for adult services in public libraries;
• Experience in development of adult services library programs and services;
• 5 years’ experience in facilities management in public libraries.
