Recruitment #190802-5406AR-001

Introduction

The State of Connecticut, Connecticut State Library (CSL), has one available opportunity for a Library Specialist in the Collection Services Unit. This is a full time position (40 hours per week), Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm, located at 231 Capitol Avenue in Hartford, CT. In this position, as Digital Projects Manager, you will plan and manage all phases of digitization activities at the State Library.

The mission of the Connecticut State Library is to preserve and make accessible Connecticut's history and heritage and to advance the development of library services statewide. The demand for digital conversion and online collections has increased rapidly in the past few years. During FY2017 and FY2018, the State Library digitized and made publicly accessible over 30,000 objects selected from the library, museum and archives collections. The digitization process also adds metadata to the object, enhancing online discovery for research and scholarship. Digitization not only increases public access to collections but is also a measure to protect rare and fragile originals from unnecessary handling. We seek a skilled professional librarian to coordinate and oversee our digital projects and staff.
