The State of Connecticut Department of Developmental Services (DDS) - North Region - Currently has one (1) full-time job opportunity for an Office Assistant position based at the Individual and Family Services Division in the Willimantic/Putnam Office.
This is a 40 hour per week position with a schedule of Monday through Friday: 8:00am - 4:30pm. However, must be flexible in order to meet the needs of the agency.
This position is open to Statewide Employees.

In a state agency this class is accountable for performing a full range of general clerical functions or for carrying out responsibility for the flow and completion of clerical work in an assigned area.
This position will be assigned to the Individual Family Support Manager in the IFS Division to provide clerical supports to the staff and visitors of the Willimantic & Putnam satellite offices, and Camp Quinebaug licensed day camp. Duties include providing the receptionists and other lower level employee’s guidance and oversight in carrying out day to day assigned clerical functions, including covering their work duties in their absence. Focus on building security and monitoring of who is entering and exiting the building. Other duties include functioning as a resource person to DDS staff and visitors. May assist with typing, filing, and other needed requests. Maintain emergency action plan, office policies & procedures book, OSHA book and other critical materials mandated by licensing entities. Maintain scheduling of conference rooms. Maintain scheduling of fleet vehicles for staff, routine maintenance, mileage reporting and vehicle transfers. Processes purchase requisitions/purchase orders for subsequent action; receives shipments of materials and matches/verifies shipment or billing invoices against original purchase orders. Liaison between DDS and Facilities Management and leasing agency for building needs as they pertain to health and safety. Maintain database and other resources needed to facilitate distribution list and pertinent information to school systems, families and the general public for the attendance and use of Camp Quinebaug. Performs other related duties as required.
Knowledge of office systems and procedures including proper telephone usage and filing; oral and written communication skills; skill in performing arithmetical computations; basic interpersonal skills; ability to perform a full range of clerical tasks; ability to operate office equipment which includes personal computers, computer terminals and other electronic automated equipment; ability to operate office suite software; ability to schedule and prioritize workflow; ability to read and interpret complex instructions.
College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling six (6) months of experience.
Persons having responsibility for supervising or observing the behavior of inmates or custodial individuals will be required to possess a high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certification by the time of permanent appointment.
