Introduction

OSC Mission Statement: To provide accounting and financial services, to administer employee and retiree benefits, to develop accounting policy and exercise accounting oversight, and to prepare financial reports for state, federal and municipal governments and the public.

The State of Connecticut Office of the State Comptroller has an exciting opportunity currently available for a Duplicating Technician 1.  This position will assume primary responsibility for all agency printing requests to ensure that operational needs are met.  This position will be responsible for the operation and general maintenance of mailroom equipment including printers, mail machine, and scanners.  This position will also be responsible for the organization of proper filing and records retention related to all mailroom/store room equipment and will coordinate equipment inventory, supply administration, and ordering. In addition, the position will perform check and mail processing on a daily basis; support efforts to ensure the safety, efficiency and accuracy of the mail operation; support vehicle fleet needs for the agency; and perform other related duties as required.  

This full-time position is Monday-Friday, 37.5 hours per week, however must be flexible based on agency needs.

**The entry level compensation rate for this position shall be ten percent (10%) below the minimum compensation listed on this bulletin for an employee in his/her initial working test period. New employees hired into state service are hired at the minimum salary. Upon completion of the initial working test period, the employee shall advance to the minimum (Step 1) of the salary schedule and be paid accordingly.

Incumbents in this class may be required to travel and will be required to possess and retain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License.

PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

This class is accountable for independently performing a full range of tasks involved in operating a variety of duplicating and finishing equipment.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Operates various types of duplicating and finishing equipment in the production of flyers, posters and brochures requiring basic layout and design; selects appropriate papers; prioritizes assignments; maintains and adjusts equipment to ensure proper paper feeding and copy quality; performs repairs on all equipment including auxiliary equipment; performs routine/daily cleaning of equipment including adding toner and greasing and oiling parts; performs recordkeeping and inventory; may be required to maintain files and provide quality control for a variety of electronic items such as CD and DVD records; may operate check processing equipment; designs layouts of mechanicals; performs related duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

Knowledge of and ability to operate various automated duplicating and finishing equipment including basic layout and design; some interpersonal skills; some oral and written communication skills; ability to utilize computer software; ability to identify duplicating problems and propose solutions; ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE

One (1) year of experience in the operation, adjustment and maintenance of automated duplicating equipment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

-Experience with operating a Xerox Nuvera 120 laser printer or similar industry standard printer.
-Proficiency with troubleshooting printing issues; performing general maintenance of printer and other related equipment as necessary.
-Experience with processing payroll checks and reports.
-Experience with supporting mail delivery processing.
-Experience with a Kodak i5200 scanner or other equivalent equipment.
-Superior analytical and organizational skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Incumbents in this class must have adequate physical strength, stamina, physical agility and visual and auditory acuity, and must maintain such physical fitness as to be able to perform the duties.
2. A physical examination may be required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Incumbents may be required to lift moderate weight; may be exposed to noise and risk of injury from duplicating equipment.
