The Department of Corrections is looking for a broad-based leader who will lead all clinical aspects of the health services delivery system for a complex organization in a challenging population. The Chief Medical Officer has a direct impact on the core mission of the Department of Correction which is to reduce recidivism by improving the person in our system to increase their chances of success in the community.

In the Department of Correction, this class is accountable for administering all medical services to offenders and inmates under the care and custody of the agency including offenders assigned to Parole and Community Services supervision.
The Chief Medical Officer for Inmate Health Services will:
Considerable knowledge of and ability to apply management principles and techniques; considerable knowledge of relevant state and federal laws, statutes and regulations; considerable knowledge of agency policies and procedures; considerable knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of medicine with particular reference to diagnosis and treatment of offenders; considerable knowledge of recent developments in the field of medicine; knowledge of administration and clinical operations, functions, and systems involving medical service delivery; considerable interpersonal skills; considerable oral and written communication skills; considerable organizational skills; considerable analytical skills; considerable ability to teach and provide clinical supervision.
Five (5) years of experience in a hospital or clinical setting as a physician in a general medical and surgical service involving all phases of medicine and surgery.
Two (2) years of the general experience in a supervisory capacity or leader of programs and processes.
