Introduction

Within the Department of Public Health, Office of Injury Prevention’s Opioids and Prescription Drug Overdose Prevention Program, this Durational Project Manager position (end date 8/31/19) will be accountable for a broad range of duties and responsibilities in order to address training and procedural needs to help curb the opioid crisis among the justice population. This includes working in close collaboration with the Connecticut Department of Correction (DOC) to plan, develop, and implement a model for ongoing and sustainable Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for the entire medically appropriate DOC population with opioid use disorder (OUD). This position requires the candidate to travel statewide to Department of Correctional Facilities (DOC) and also work in the field.

Experience & Training Requirements: Applicants must have a minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a licensed medical professional in a supervisory/administration capacity, with responsibility for consultation, education, administration, or planning, development and execution of a comprehensive health or health related program.

PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

In a state agency makes or conducts a special inquiry, investigation, examination or installation pursuant to Section 5-198(n) of the Connecticut General Statutes.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience working in positions that require considerable knowledge of medical principles, practices, and standards to coordinate the care of a diverse patient/inmate population with chronic illness.

• Experience maintaining active liaison with and serving as health consultant to other sections, divisions, health care providers, and the public, in a state health care facility, correctional facility, or community based health care program.

• Experience coordinating work flow, establishing and maintaining program protocols and procedures, allocating community or clinical resources, and determining priorities for quality assurance purposes.

• Experience implementing, coordinating, and evaluating program activities, and related health care services, as well as coordinating clinical data collection as it relates to state or federal requirements, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Experience planning and implementing consumer or staff training and assistance programs, including developing and conducting outreach, giving presentations, and providing group education.
