The State of Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT) invites its qualified agency employees to apply for the position of Transportation Maintainer 3 (Payloader Operator). This is a 37.5 hour position that is located in the Litchfield Maintenance Facility. The hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Applicants must hold a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) (A or B), with the "tank endorsement" and valid Medical Examiner's Card (MEC), in order to be eligible to apply.
Incumbents in this class must be willing to accept assignment to emergency duties, including snow and ice removal, whenever his or her services are needed; to inlcude mandatory winter overtime from November 1 through April 30. Various storm events will require employees to stay at work for the duration of the storm; which at times could be up to a period of several days, to include holidays and weekends. Incumbents in this class will be required to have a 20-mile residency from the posted job location.
Applicants invited to interview will be required to produce a copy of their current valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B, reflecting the "tank endorsement," and valid Medical Examiner's Card (MEC) at time of interview, or they will be immediately disqualified. ***The Agency will conduct a practicum for the Transportation Maintainer 3 (Payloader Operator) position to evaluate and determine whether or not applicant(s) have the skills and qualifications to perform the duties of the position. Practicums will be conducted pursuant to the Department of Transportation Administrative Guidelines for Conducting Practicums and will be part of the interview process.
In order to be considered for this job opening, you must be a current state of CT employee of the Department of Transportation, who has permanent state status* and meet the Minimum Qualifications as listed on the job opening. You must specify your qualifications on your application.
*For employees in the classified service, permanent status is obtained after successful completion of a working test period. For employees in the unclassified service, permanent status is obtained after serving in a position for at least six months (full-time equivalent).
