The mission of the Bureau of Natural Resources is to conserve and enhance Connecticut’s fish, wildlife and forest resources and to enhance opportunities for public use and appreciation. The Bureau of Natural Resources is made up of three Divisions: Fisheries, Forestry and Wildlife.
The Wildlife Division has a current opportunity within the Research and Education Unit for an Environmental Intern, target class of Environmental Protection Wildlife Biologist 1.
This position is first shift, 35 hours per week, but hours may vary according to field sampling or out of office state meeting needs.

In order to be considered for this position, candidates must have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Wildlife Management.
Wildlife management is scientific fields such as wildlife, biology, zoology, wildlife population dynamics, wildlife ecology, plant ecology, vertebrate zoology, ornithology, mammalogy, animal and plant taxonomy.
During the training period, the candidate’s skills will be developed to perform the following duties:
Conducting research into national efforts to recruit, retain and reactivate hunters and trappers (R3);
Developing, implementing and revising a R3 strategic plan;
Engaging the public in R3 planning and implementation;
Analyzing license sales data (using SQL) and developing R3 marketing strategies;
Preparing and disseminating program-related articles, news releases, brochures, public service announcements, and social media postings;
Conducting research studies on all aspects of the programs and evaluating hunter and trapper needs concerning engagement in the hunting and trapping disciplines;
Developing and implementing strategies to recruit participants from an array of outdoor enthusiasts (i.e., hunters, trappers, anglers, boaters campers);
Working with sporting groups, non-governmental organizations and the hunting/trapping industry to create and implement strategies to promote the program;
Managing activities in the front office;
Maintaining supplies, equipment and;
Performing related duties as required.
