DESCRIPTION

This flexibly staffed class series specification describes the journey-level classification in the Library Clerk series. Under supervision, provides customer service and performs various clerical and related duties in the Alameda County Library (Library).
Employees in this classification perform functions that require independent judgment and are assigned duties involving direct interaction with the public. Library Clerk II’s perform a wide variety of moderately difficult clerical work, requiring the ability to choose among a limited number of alternatives in solving routine problems.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES
This is the journey-level classification in the Library Clerk flex series located in the Library. Employees work exclusively in the Library, providing customer service and performing clerical tasks under supervision.
The classification of Library Clerk II is distinguished from the classification of Library Technician in that Library Clerk II does not provide reference services and does not lead events or outreach activities.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
|
EITHER I
Experience:
The equivalent of six (6) months of full time experience in the class of Library Clerk I or an equivalent or higher level clerical class in the Alameda County classified service.
OR II
Experience:
The equivalent of one (1) year full-time experience in clerical or customer service work.
Special Requirement:
Push carts full of heavy books and lift up to 35 lbs. Employees in this classification may be required to work evenings and weekends.
NOTE: The Civil Service Commission may modify the above Minimum Qualifications in the announcement of an examination.
