Under direction of a member of the Board of Supervisors, to represent such member to regional and County commissions, boards and agencies, community groups and organizations, and citizens of a Supervisorial District; to assist in program and project planning; to explain and interpret County policy and programs to the citizens of Alameda County; and to provide supportive services for clerical, administrative, business management, fiscal, budgetary preparation and personnel management functions.


Positions in this class are located in the Board of Supervisor’s office and serve as assistants to individual Board Members.

NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Each individual in the classification does not necessarily perform all duties listed.

1. As assigned, represents a member of the Board of Supervisors to citizens, community groups and organizations on matters in the Supervisorial Districts.

2. Deals with questions from citizens and complaints relating to county services in a Supervisorial District. Receives and reviews correspondence, evaluates citizens’ suggestions and complaints, and responds.

3. Prepares reports and analyses on legislation and legislative programs of interest to the Supervisor.

4. As assigned, represents a member of the Board of Supervisors to regional, state and local government agencies, boards and commissions.

5. Prepares reports and analyses of proposed programs, with particular emphasis upon the impact of such programs upon Alameda County.

6. Gathers appropriate information and reports in response to Board of Supervisor’s agenda items.

7. Arranges for and conducts meetings with constituents and County staff in pursuit of duties of Supervisor.

8. Represents the Supervisor at meetings in or out of the County, as necessary.

9. Responds to requests of constituents for assistance involving all the various services provided by the County of Alameda, including but not limited to, working with County staff in the provision of said services to constituents as required.

10. May serve as Chief of Staff to Board Member.
