CITY OF WATERBURY IS CURRENTLY ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR A
SEASONAL SNOW PLOW OPERATOR
SALARY: $28.11 - $35.05/hour
DURATION: Seasonal
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Seasonal Snow Plow Operator to perform skilled duties in the operation of medium to heavy duty trucks carrying material, plowing and sanding of City streets. May operate other equipment related to snow plowing and/ or snow removal operations.
Work may be performed independently or under the supervision of a Foreman and Bureau Supervisor and available on an “On-Call” basis at the discretion of the Director of Public Works or designee.
EXAMPLES OF WORK
(Illustrative only) Operates trucks or equipment for primarily snow plowing and sanding of City streets and City-Owned Parking lots. Must be available to operate other snow removal equipment such as snow blower if required; Must be available to respond within sixty (60) minutes of notification; Must be available to work extended hours including nights, weekends and holidays; Must have cold weather clothing and gear.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGES SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Skill in the operation of all motorized vehicles and equipment utilized by the City of Waterbury for snow operations; Good knowledge of traffic and safety rules and accident prevention practices; Must be available to work in adverse weather conditions.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Minimum one (1) year of previous experience in snow plowing utilizing medium to heavy duty equipment. Possession of a High School Diploma or G.E.D.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT
Must be in possession of a valid Commercial Drivers’ License CDL Class A or B with an Air Brake Endorsement. Must have a good driving history.
