Summary
Under the general direction of the Customer Service Division Manager, the Water Efficiency and Analytics Coordinator (Engineer Senior) plays a crucial role in identifying and reporting water usage, minimizing water loss, issuing productivity reports, and working within Charlotte Water to optimize operations. This position is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of strategies aimed at enhancing water efficiency, identifying and reporting non-revenue water, managing business performance analytics, preparing graphical illustrations and presentations, meter performance analysis, and support reducing water loss across the utility's distribution system with innovated techniques, and using metering technology.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
• Water Efficiency Strategy: Develop and execute comprehensive water efficiency strategies to promote sustainable water usage practices, reduce overall unaccountable water loss, maximize revenues and coordinate conservation efforts.
• Performance Analytics: Utilize advanced analytics tools to analyze meter data, identify trends, and evaluate the effectiveness of water conservation programs and initiatives.
• Utilize data-driven insights to continuously refine and enhance KPIs for improved decision-making. Analyze operational processes to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost savings.
• Dashboard Management: Design and maintain dashboards and performance metrics to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to water usage, conservation efforts, and water loss. Assist the divisions leadership team in with financial budget presentation for the Department’s executive team.
• Leak Detection and Management: Support leak detection programs, utilizing data analytics to prioritize, report suspected leaks promptly, identify sources of unbilled water to minimize water loss and increase revenue recovery efforts.
• Metering Optimization: Lead efforts to optimize metering systems and data collection processes to ensure accurate measurement of water usage and identify anomalies or inefficiencies. Principal lead for meter reading analytics and supports meter reading and field services to enhance service and billing operations.
• Reporting and Communication: Prepare regular reports and presentations on water efficiency metrics, performance analytics findings, and recommendations for improvement to stakeholders and senior management. Assist the divisions leadership team in with financial budget presentation for the Department’s executive team.
• Provide monthly reporting of all Customer Service Division key functions and data collections of business activities, billing and meter reading operations, and special request needs.
• Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about regulatory requirements related to water conservation and efficiency, ensuring compliance, and proactively addressing any emerging issues. Apply Water Audits and Loss Control Programs based on AWWA M36 Manual.
• Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, engineering, customer service, water treatment, and regulatory affairs to integrate water efficiency considerations into utility operations and customer service initiatives.
• Performs other duties and activities as directed, works in a proactive manner for improvement efforts and identifies risks and operational impacts to the division’s leadership team.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting, standing, climbing, or walking for extended periods of time. Light to moderate lifting and carrying; some crouching, stooping, squatting, crawling, reaching, pushing, and pulling when performing tasks. Adequate vision, hearing, and speech required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in an indoor office environment with moderate exposure to atmospheric conditions; moderate exposure to environmental conditions (such as officers, community members, victims, etc.); and frequent exposure to computer screens, files, and phone.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's Level Degree in Engineering
• Five years relevant experience utility operations, water efficiency, performance analytics, or related field.
Licenses, Certifications or Registrations:
• Requires a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Salary
$95,892.00 - $106,546.00 Commensurate with Experience
