Introduction

Plans and leads the Revenue Division’s Collections, Depositing, Payment Processing, and Cash Handling functions to include over-the-counter, departmental receipts, drop-box, and mail.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensures daily revenue deposits are processed accurately and promptly
  • Serves as business process administrator for the cashiering system and participates on the AR project team
  • Analyzes and recommends enhancements to payment processing systems
  • Acts as liaison with departments to facilitate collections and receipt of funds
  • Supports internal controls by monitoring cash handling and ensuring processes are within compliance of the cash collection policy
  • Identifies and implements operational process improvements
  • Develops policies and procedures
  • Researches and resolves customer service requests
  • Prepares reports and coordinates/performs special project assignments.
  • Participates on the Revenue Leadership Team and contributes to the ERP and cashier system implementations. 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Thorough knowledge of General Collections Standards and Practices
  • Ability to perform statistical analysis
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience analyzing financial transactions to determine need for internal controls
  • Proficiency using Word, Excel, PowerPoint and cashiering systems.

Preferred Qualification

Requires four-year degree in business, public administration or related field; 5-7 years of experience in revenue collections and customer service

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's level degree and three years relevant experience.

Or

Master’s level degree and one year relevant experience.

Conditions of Employment

The City’s Background Check Policy requires background checks to be conducted on final internal or external candidate(s) applying for any position with the City of Charlotte. The type of information that will be collected as part of a background check includes, but is not limited to: reference checks, social security verification, education verification, criminal conviction record check, and, if applicable, a credit history check, sex offender registry and motor vehicle records check.

Final candidates must pass a pre-employment drug-screening test and physical examination. During the selection process, candidates may be asked to take a skills test, and/or participate in other assessments.
