Summary

This position will provide service for the insurance and contract review in the Risk Division.  This position will report to and support the Insurance Manager on the self-insured insurance program, and placement of insurance on behalf of entity clients.  This position must be able to work with the broker and designated entities to collect information and support the Insurance Manager during the renewal process.  This position must be able to provide day to day program support and be able to work with internal and external clients. The Insurance and Contract Analyst must have a strong understanding of insurance contractual language and insurance policy structure. This position will be responsible for submitting and tracking all excess insurance carrier claims and coordinate with the property and casualty claim division, coordination of the Builders’ Risk program, and review of certificates of insurance.  Independently issue coverage verification letters and request certificates of insurance on behalf of client, when needed.  Knowledge of governmental entity organization and operation is a plus. Position will be expected to develop enough expertise to be responsible for individual program sections as assigned by Insurance Manager.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Make independent judgment within authority regarding acceptable insurance limits on program contracts.
  • Collaborate with the Insurance Manager throughout insurance renewal cycle.
  • Independently monitor excess claims in collaboration with property and casualty division.  
  • Independently issue coverage verification letters and request certificate of insurance on behalf of client base.
  • Manage certificate of insurance system in collaborations with internal departments.
  • Develops ad hoc statistical reports, as requested.
  • Collaborates with risk management staff and finance to assist with reporting, training, and research on special items/issues or regulatory standards. 
  • Preparing loss reports
  • Auditing OSHA recordable claims for accuracy
  • Preparing ad hoc risk management and statistical reports
  • Maintaining loss data metrics and conducting research of regulatory standards.
  • Position collaborates with risk control staff in the development and presentation of various training materials. 
  • Performs related duties and special projects, as assigned. 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Experience with larger, self-insured program structures. Insurance agency or insurance carrier experience highly desired.
  • Experience with renewal data capturing, including the ability to complete insurance company applications, compile fleet data capture information and organize large property schedule information with minimal supervision. 
  • Experience generating and manipulating report data, applying quality control measures, and experience with Risk Management Information Systems.
  • Experience working with regulatory agencies. 
  • Experience in occupational safety, risk control, claims, or insurance is desired.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be detail oriented and committed to accuracy.
  • Must have a strong proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of insurance regulations and practices.
  • Ability to work as a team member in a diverse workgroup.
  • Ability to work independently, set priorities, and meet deadlines.  
  • Ability to communicate with, and serve, customers in a professional and supportive manner.
  • Strong time management and prioritizing skills.
  • Must be able to handle confidential and/or sensitive information with high ethical standards.

Minimum Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent and five (5) years of experience

or

2 year college degree and three (3) years of experience

or

bachelor's degree and one (1) year of experience 

Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities necessary to perform the essential job functions.

Conditions of Employment
