Summary

Join the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) team in shaping the future of transportation in the Charlotte region! We are on the lookout for a passionate, results-driven Content Webmaster who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The role centers around enhancing our brand visibility, improving ridership and creating a formidable image for CATS in the digital space. You'll be entrusted with the vital task of ensuring our online presence is responsive, updated and reflective of our commitment to the community.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Content Creation & Management

  • Develop, manage and update content across CATS’ web platforms.
  • Work proficiently with content management systems.
  • Collaborate with a cross-departmental team to curate and maintain a master content calendar.
  • Copy edit, proofread and ensure quality and consistency of all web content.

Web Design & Development

  • Design aesthetically pleasing and user-centric web pages.
  • Handle web applications development using HTML/XHTML and CSS.
  • Engage in regular testing of website functionality across various browsers.
  • Stay updated with emerging web technologies and ADA regulations.

Branding & Collaboration

  • Uphold a uniform appearance across all online properties in partnership with graphics design staff, communications division, ad agency and others.
  • Liaise with key team members, external clients and vendors for cohesive web-based projects.

Analytics & Optimization

  • Monitor and report on website metrics for performance assessment.
  • Ensure CATS website ranks optimally in search engine results.

Compliance & Archiving

  • Guarantee the website meets ADA standards.
  • Oversee the archiving of web-based data for future requisitions, referencing and public records law.

Intranet Management

  • Oversee CATS intranet, ensuring effective communication, formatting, design and data dissemination among employees.

  • As part of your responsibility to support the CATS Safety Culture, report safety concerns and issues through the various methods established by CATS as outlined in the ASP. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external parties.
  • Advanced knowledge of HTML / XHTML / CSS and experience with popular content management systems, including but not limited to SharePoint and WordPress
  • Technical skills in PHP, jQuery, JavaScript and asp.net are highly preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Basic proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Established experience in web design and site management.
  • Solid understanding of web best practices and ADA guidelines.

Preferred Qualification

A bachelor’s degree in a related field with relevant experience is highly preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in managing content and producing websites. Alternatively, an associate degree with at least three (3) year of related experience.

Conditions of Employment

The City’s Background Check Policy requires background checks to be conducted on final internal or external candidate(s) applying for any position with the City of Charlotte. The type of information that will be collected as part of a background check includes, but is not limited to: reference checks, social security verification, education verification, criminal conviction record check, and, if applicable, a credit history check, sex offender registry and motor vehicle records check.

Background checks must be in compliance with all federal and state statutes, such as the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The checks must be consistent with the guidelines set forth by these laws requiring organizations to obtain a candidate’s written authorization before obtaining a criminal background report, motor vehicle records check or credit report; and to properly store and dispose of information derived from such reports.

Final candidates must pass a pre-employment drug-screening test and physical examination. During the selection process, candidates may be asked to take a skills test, and/or participate in other assessments.
