Introduction

This CLT Development Center position is in the Land Development Division of the City of Charlotte’s Planning, Design and Development Department. This administrative position focuses on customer service functions to support the CLT Development Center and staff at Suttle Avenue.  This position is the face of the Center by providing internal and external customers with direction and guidance. The Center located in the Charlotte Mecklenburg Government Center is where land development permitting staff from 5 City departments are co-located to foster collaboration and enhance the customer experience. Candidates will be a part of a team and can expect a fast-paced environment and should excel in communication skills.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Direct incoming telephone calls to maintain internal and external customer communication
  • Direct questions regarding regulations and policies to staff to ensure that the proper information is being communicated to the public  
  • Schedules all presubmittal and urban conceptual meeting with customers and staff
  • Manages staff contact information list for the CLT Development Center
  • Process and investigates to conclusion all Emerald customer service requests
  • Coordinates front-desk activities, including the distribution of correspondence
  • Manage the offsite storage process including maintaining the database with the incorporation of new records and the handling of staff request for records to be sent to the CLT Development Center
  • Offers administrative support across all agencies in the CLT Development Center and Suttle Avenue.
  • Maintains office security by following safety procedures and controlling access via the reception desk.

  • Ability to carry out assignments based upon brief and general instructions
  • Proficiency in technology applicable to work required of position
  • Ability to prioritize and carry out multiple tasks 
  • Ability to manage responsibilities with limited supervision

Preferred Qualification

  • Basic knowledge of development/permitting/construction process 
  • Associate degree

Minimum Qualifications

High School Graduate or Equivalent and three years relevant work experience

OR

Associate's Degree and one year relevant work experience

OR

Bachelor's Level Degree
