Perform plans examinations and quality inspections on all new and existing buildings as referenced in the North Carolina Fire Code, the employee will contribute to improving the life safety and obtaining compliance with applicable codes, local ordinances, and accepted standards.

Positions in this class typically require grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
Concentrated and attentive use of one or more senses (visual, audio, and other sensory modalities) for proofreading, data entry, and tabulating data.
Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor environment with moderate exposure to atmospheric conditions, moderate exposure to environmental conditions and frequent exposure to computer screens, files, and phone.
All applicants must possess or prequalify for a Standard Level I or Probationary Level II North Carolina Fire Inspector Certification through the North Carolina Department of Insurance. A NC Standard Level III Fire Inspector Certification and a minimum of 2 years of reviewing commercial projects is preferred; however, a NC Standard Level I or Probationary Level II Fire Inspector Certification is required.

Starting salary range is $66,060 to $71,096

Final candidates must pass a pre-employment drug-screening test and physical examination. During the selection process, candidates may be asked to take a skills test, and/or participate in other assessments.
