Summary

Works as a plumber at Charlotte Douglas International Airport primarily performing high level work installing and maintaining plumbing fixtures and associated equipment. Locating and repairing malfunctions in plumbing systems, inspecting, servicing, testing, performing PM’s and repairing associated equipment.  Perform other general maintenance work incidental to above duties, or necessary to keep buildings in working order, including basic HVAC and electrical.

General Information:
Works assigned shift, plus rotating weekend and holiday duty.  Subject to overtime, calls back to work and shift variation during emergency/urgent operations and inclement weather. 
Certain convictions will disqualify individuals from unescorted access privileges and therefore exclude from employment.
Valid driver’s license with no more than six points and ability to obtain and maintain City driving perm

Major Duties and Responsibilities

1. Perform journey level installation, preventive maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems.
2. Perform preventive maintenance on underground sewer, drainage systems, lift stations and associated equipment.  
3. Inspect and troubleshoot aircraft hangar doors and motors.
4. Perform general building maintenance work, including manual labor, incidental to above duties or necessary to keep buildings in working order.
5. Provide direction and training to apprentice and other employees.
6. Compile lists of equipment, tools and supplies needed.
7. Perform repairs to carpet, security doors and gates, passenger seating and overall appearance to the traveling public.
8. Inspect and repair building envelope such as, roofs, windows, doors, and gutters.
9. Operate cars, vans, lifts, bucket trucks and other heavy equipment.
10. Subject to emergency call back for equipment repairs and inclement weather.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of plumbing and other building systems.
Ability to perform journey level work on plumbing systems.
Working knowledge of other building trades and general building maintenance.
Read and write sufficiently to complete paperwork and read schematic designs and blueprints. 
Maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, contractors, and tenants. 
Follow verbal and written instructions.

Preferred Qualification

Preferred journey card, NC State Plumbing license or approved apprentice program. Working knowledge of other building trades and general building maintenance.  

Minimum Qualifications

Three years related work experience

OR

High School Graduate or Equivalent and one year related work experience
