Professional 

Summary

Charlotte Communication & Marketing (CCM) is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated individual with experience and skills in web design, web content and web development. The web developer will assist in the production and maintenance of charlottenc.gov web properties to help strengthen the City brand, improve customer experience, and support the overall mission of ensuring residents have access to key City services, resources, and information. The candidate will design web elements, format content, and ensure that web content is compliant with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements and recommendations. This role will work on a hybrid work schedule. 

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, deploy and monitor web-based and other custom software applications. 
Troubleshoot technical design issues, content updates, and other technical support related to the web.
Implements HTML and CSS from design mockups as needed.
Implement user-friendly and responsive web pages.
Collaborate with the lead web developer, digital content team and other stakeholders as needed to architect, design and implement web solutions.
Ensure quality and consistency of all web properties and work collaboratively with design staff and vendors.
Collaborate with the creative services team to implement UX and UI concepts into fully functioning web applications.
Play an active role in quality assurance of CCM web content.
Report on site metrics and key performance indicators. 
Ensure all web content is 508 and WCAG 2.1 compliant. 
Work in an agile, iterative work environment 
Uses effective communication skills when responding to customer emails, attending consultation meetings, and regular interactions to solve work related problems and concerns.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Exceptional communication and organizational skills.
Knowledge of SharePoint, HTML5, CSS2/3, JavaScript, Adobe Suite and relational databases. 
Understanding of UX/UI principles as well as responsive and adaptive design.
Understanding of AA/AAA accessibility requirements. 
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Proven ability to build consensus and work effectively within a cross-functional team.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
Must be able to work outside of traditional 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. schedule during emergencies. 

Preferred Qualification

Bachelor’s degree with related experience preferred

Minimum Qualifications

High School Graduate or Equivalent and five years relevant experience. Or

Associate’s Degree and three years relevant experience.

The City’s Background Check Policy requires background checks to be conducted on final internal or external candidate(s) applying for any position with the City of Charlotte. The type of information that will be collected as part of a background check includes, but is not limited to: reference checks, social security verification, education verification, criminal conviction record check, and, if applicable, a credit history check, sex offender registry and motor vehicle records check.
