Summary

This part-time position aids employees, visitors and the general public at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport’s business office (CLT Center). As the first point of contact and the front desk receptionist this position contributes to a positive experience for visitors and employees by providing excellent customer service over the phone and in person. 

The CLT Center Front Desk hours of operation are 8:00am until 4:00pm, Monday - Friday and are separated into two shifts; 8:00am-12:00pm and 12:00pm-4:00pm. Shifts and desk hours subject to change. Overtime is minimal. May be called in for urgent/emergency situations.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

1. Greets and directs visitors in the CLT Center reception area during the morning shift, 8:00am – 12:00pm Monday-Friday. 
2. Answers front desk telephone and determines nature of call and relays information or routes call as appropriate.  
3. Maintains and updates the employee active directory and contact sheet.
4. Provides courteous and helpful service to customers (internal and external) in person and over the phone. 
5. Assists visitors with check-in and check-out processes utilizing CLT’s enterprise visitor management system. 
6. Maintains front desk and reception area in an orderly and presentable fashion. Ensures front desk supplies are stocked appropriately.
7. Provides administrative and clerical support when needed, such as preparing and distributing routine correspondence, assisting with mail sorting and delivery, and meeting logistics.
8. Maintain an awareness of current airport-related news and information, in order to provide accurate information to customer inquiries.
9. Assist with lost and found activities in accordance with established procedures by receiving, retrieving, and returning items.
10. Assist with special events and projects as requested.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of standard office equipment and procedures including Microsoft Office.
• Skill in public contact, customer service and establishing a positive professional image.
• Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written forms.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and the public.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work standards which may be performed under stress.
• Ability to handle confidential information and records appropriately
• Ability to handle funds appropriately and within standard financial policies
• Ability to type and perform data entry with appropriate speed and accuracy and to proof own work.

Preferred Qualification

Three years of experience in a customer service role.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Graduate or Equivalent and one year relevant work experience

OR

Associate's Degree

The City’s Background Check Policy requires background checks to be conducted on final internal or external candidate(s) applying for any position with the City of Charlotte.
