Major Duties and Responsibilities

Must have excellent communication skills along with the willingness to learn basic fire code knowledge.

Demonstrate the ability to multitask and work independently with minimal oversight.

Must have a basic knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office Software (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint etc.)

Have the ability to problem solve, handle complex tasks, and maintain departmental databases.

Responsible for overseeing and preparing expense reports, processing credit card/check payments, assigning CFD website requests, working closely with Fire Inspectors and Seniors along with other internal divisions to ensure that revenue and departmental goals are met.

 Answering calls and responding to questions regarding fire regulations and public safety issues, while receiving, printing, processing, and mailing fire renewal permits.

ADA and Other Requirements:

Positions in this class typically require: grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.

 Physical Requirements:

  • Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical conditions necessary for sitting, standing, climbing, or walking for extended periods of time.
  • Light to moderate lifting and carrying; some crouching, stooping, squatting, crawling, reaching, pushing, and pulling when performing tasks.
  • Adequate vision, hearing, and speech required.

Sensory Requirements:

  • Concentrated and attentive use of one or more senses (visual, audio, and other sensory modalities) for proofreading, data entry, and tabulating data.
  • Ability to operate in an environment with frequent interruptions from people and/or noises, which in return could result in some level of stress, fatigue, or strain.
  • Comprehensive written information in work-related documents.
  • Ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in an indoor environment with moderate exposure to atmospheric conditions; moderate exposure to environmental conditions and frequent exposure to computer screens, files, and phone.

Preferred Qualification

A bachelor’s degree of any kind with 1 year of experience in office administration. Spanish bilingual preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum 6 years of experience in office administration and/or an associate degree in Office Administration with a minimum of 2 years of experience.

Salary

Starting Salary range is - $52,000 to $55,000 – Salary offer will be commensurate with level of experience.

Final candidates must pass a pre-employment drug-screening test and physical examination. During the selection process, candidates may be asked to take a skills test, and/or participate in other assessments.
