The Street Maintenance Division of the Charlotte Department of Transportation is hosting a Labor & Trades Hiring Event. We are looking to fill Street Crew Member & Mason positions. We will be conducting on-site interviews, skills assessments, and extending offers of employment at the event. Candidates that apply to this posting will be reviewed and contacted to schedule an in-person interview the day of the event.

On-Site Interviews will be scheduled on a first come first serve bases while interview time slots lasts. Submitting an application prior to event is preferred but not required. If you do not receive an interview confirmation email you will not have a guaranteed interview on 4/22.
Street Crew Member Positions
The Street Maintenance Crew Member performs unskilled/semi-skilled work including compacting, installing, leveling and finishing materials; construct and maintain roadways, sidewalks and storm drainage systems; performs heavy manual labor; works with concrete, asphalt, gravel, dirt, bricks, grout, and other materials.
Mason Positions
The CDOT Mason is responsible for the construction and maintenance of concrete curb and gutter, sidewalks, driveways, and brick structures within the right of way.
Mason Recruitment Incentive
Employees who are hired January 1, 2022 through June 30, 2022 in this job class will be eligible for a signing bonus of up to $1,000 upon hire and a second payment of $1,000 once initial probation is complete.

The City’s Background Check Policy requires background checks to be conducted on final internal or external candidate(s) applying for any position with the City of Charlotte. The type of information that will be collected as part of a background check includes, but is not limited to: reference checks, social security verification, education verification, criminal conviction record check, and, if applicable, a credit history check, sex offender registry and motor vehicle records check.
