Summary

The primary function of this position is to lead a crew responsible for Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) inspections of storm water systems.  This position is responsible for collecting and reporting information used in assessing conditions of storm water assets. 

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for supervising technicians performing skilled to semi-skilled tasks associated with inspection operations 
Responsible for performing pipe, manhole, catch basin, and structure inspections by CCTV and other methods
Directs the activities of subordinates to assist with inspection operations, including necessary preparation procedures
Performs proactive and reactive inspections
Maintains equipment in good operating condition by adjusting, cleaning, lubricating and performing minor repairs, while also ensuring that equipment is stored in a safe and proper manner
Prepares and maintains accurate reports and records on assigned work activities
Responds to internal and external customers and resolves complaints in a courteous manner
Understands and adheres to all company health and safety procedures
Coaches and motivates technicians by communicating needs and expectations and through proper training
Develops improvement and growth plans for employees
Completes performance appraisals and addresses personnel issues 
Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Experience operating and maintaining closed circuit television equipment for storm water system inspection or maintenance
Understand how to read and interpret topo maps and plans 
Ability to implement and test new procedures, processes, and equipment
Experience maintaining records and preparing reports; 
Experience and abilities to deal with and resolve conflict within a team
Experience with the operation of light, medium equipment and trucks
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, departments, and the public
Ability to plan, prioritize and organize work and complete assignments with minimal supervision
Ability to apply conflict resolution techniques and to work collaboratively and effectively with others
Must understand hazards and exhibit a serious attitude towards safety precautions
A valid driver’s license, a good driving record with the ability to obtain and maintain a City Driving Permit

Preferred Qualification

Two (2) to five (5) years of experience 
Work order system experience 
Experience with geospatial information systems, topography, storm water systems, and reading plans 
Storm water infrastructure maintenance and construction of roadways
Supervisory experience 
PACP and MACP Certification

Minimum Qualifications

  Graduation from an accredited high school, technical or vocational school or equivalent.

Other Requirements:

This position requires significant judgment in traveling; traversing difficult terrain, retaining structures, barriers, and various urban/rural conditions; encountering a wide range of animals, insects, vegetation, and weather conditions; interacting with public; and experiencing unforeseen conditions/situations in accessing and entering drainage features within the Right of Way, public, and private property. This position requires that the selected candidate be able to walk at least 3 miles per day, stand for at least 8 hours per day, remove and replace manhole lids and inlet grates, lift, push and pull up to 100 pounds, climb a ladder, bend, crawl and stoop, crawl through pipes and culverts as small as 24 inches, traverse and climb difficult Piedmont terrain and waterways in an urban environment, perform work under adverse weather and environmental conditions. The ability to traverse encountered field conditions as part of this position’s duties and responsibilities is a condition of employment.  Occasional on-call emergency work may be required. Employee must be able to work occasional overtime, various shift hours. Employee must obtain and maintain trainings and certifications essential to the work assignment as directed.


Salary

$41,772 to $52,215 Commensurate with Experience
