Summary

Responsible for maintaining and operating a facility stock room.  Ensures adequate supplies are kept in inventory and available as needed for employees.  May provide direction to crew members assisting with supply function.

Reporting Relationships: 

Reports to the District Operation Supervisor.

General Information:

CDL “A” with hazmat and tanker endorsements. (This has to be acquired within 6 months starting the position)


Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receives, issues, orders and maintains a wide assortment of stone (clean stone, rip rap, etc.), sand, construction materials, salt, safety cones, safety vests, goggles, rain suits, gloves, rain boots, uniforms, chemical cleaning supplies, hand held tools and lubricants. 
  • Drives fuel truck as needed to fuel equipment. 
  • Provides courteous and immediate assistance to employees needing supplies or assistance in obtaining necessary items to perform their duties. 
  • Posts supply information to stock record database; maintains up-to-date and accurate files. Reviews stock records for obsolete equipment, chemicals and removes items from stock. Estimates stock needs and conducts regular inventory. 
  • Verifies shipments and the condition, shortage and discrepancies 
  • Makes minor repairs to tools and equipment 
  • Delivers supplies/materials to worksite as needed. 
  • Performs other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Provide excellent Customer Service. 
  • Knowledge of work hazards, safety precautions and OSHA regulations. 
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations in ensuring proper storage of chemicals, paints. 
  • Ability to maintain accurate records. 
  • Knowledge of warehouse or storeroom procedures and inventory records. 
  • Knowledge of a variety of construction materials, chemicals, supplies, and tools. 
  • Ability to receive, issue, order, and maintain control of a large inventory. 
  • Ability to keep accurate records, to perform arithmetical calculations, and to maintain inventory control. 
  • Organize and set up tables and chairs in assembly room for meetings, training and special events. 
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions. 
  • Ability to use MS Office Suite and Work Management System. 
  • Ability to operate a forklift, backhoe and front-end loader. (These skills have to be acquired within 6 months of starting the position) 
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing. 
  • Ability to read and write in English. 
  • Knowledge of storekeeping and inventory work. 
  • Ability to work effectively with co-workers in a team environment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent and one (1) year of relevant work experience
  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the essential job duties

Salary

  • $41,772.00 - $52, 215.00/ Year; Commensurate with experience

Conditions of Employment

The City’s Background Check Policy requires background checks to be conducted on final internal or external candidate(s) applying for any position with the City of Charlotte. The type of information that will be collected as part of a background check includes, but is not limited to: reference checks, social security verification, education verification, criminal conviction record check, and, if applicable, a credit history check, sex offender registry and motor vehicle records check.
