Overview
Charlotte Communications and Marketing develops innovative and strategic communication and marketing solutions to advance the city’s overall vision and tell the stories that shape Charlotte. The Charlotte Communications and Marketing team members are subject matter experts in the areas of internal communications, media relations, video and web services, program management, community engagement and graphic design.
Summary
The corporate communications executive producer is responsible for managing the video services team and programs (internally and externally) as well as developing and implementing strategies and policies for the video team within Corporate Communication & Marketing (CC&M). This role reports to the deputy director and indirectly to the department director of CC&M.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
• Oversee programming for the GOV Channel and assist in the development of video materials for multi-channel dissemination.
• Responsible for development of live-production capabilities to meet the changing demand of meetings – virtual, broadcast/streaming, social, etc.
• Manage the council meeting coverage process – key roles, needs, assignments, etc. in a cost-effective manner.
• Collaborate with digital team as part of the larger content team to create a multi-channel strategy for original video content, assisting in planning and execution.
• Work with the deputy director and director on broadcast media services strategy for live production and studio facilities (audio and video).
• Manage studio calendar and ensure smooth process for incoming requests (from City, County, and School Board and others)
• Manage incoming media development (tracking projects and media storage) for studio and support services.
• Oversee broadcast services staff daily activities, and delegate daily/weekly assignments as necessary.
• Supervise and assess the broadcast services team and individual contributions. Set expectations and hold staff accountable to them. Establish development plans and give staff an opportunity to grow and develop.
• Coordinate and manage vendor relationships as they relate to broadcast media (i.e. freelancers, contractors, etc.)
• Analyze staff roles and needs and make recommendations on how to evolve the team, resources and deliverables for the future of this department and city.
• Manage operational and capital budget for broadcast services team, and monthly/annual expenses.
• Manage the budget dedicated to video services
• Manage the reporting process on key metrics and areas of concentration
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to understand TV channel programming needs and schedules.
• Must have management/coaching experience

• Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, Primarily Premiere/After Effects
Preferred Qualification
• Master’s degree in journalism or a related field of study
• Broad, extensive knowledge of TV/video services Expertise in video production, both on and off set, and editing
• Experience managing live, virtual meetings for broadcast
• Proven track record of creating compelling and engaging stories across multiple platforms
• Basic understanding with live streaming platforms (Facebook, YouTube, Twitter), and broadcast television engineering operations
• Well versed and experience with studio switchers (ROSS, Blackmagic, Broadcast Pix), professional cameras (Panasonic, Sony), DSLR’s, remote control cameras, field/studio production, photography
• Experience with podcasts/audio production development – production, dissemination (Soundcloud platform to Apple, Google, Spotify)
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field of study
• Five or more years of relevant work experience
Physical Requirements
• Must be able stand for long periods of time
• Ability to lift and carry 25 – 50 lbs. of equipment for short distances.
• While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to walk, stand, use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk and hear.
• Regularly required to sit or stand, reach, bend and move about the facility.
• Exposure to atmospheric conditions will be encountered.
• Significant work in all weather conditions is to be expected
• Schedule changes should be expected
Salary
$84,000 to 93,000 annually. Commensurate with experience.
