Function

Customer/Revenue Service Assistant provides information to  the citizens  of Charlotte. 

Summary

The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) is seeking a motivated, dependable and professional bilingual (preferred) Customer Revenue Service Assistant.

This position serves as a bridge between CATS and the citizens of Charlotte by answering questions pertaining to bus routes, pass sales, customer inquiries and complaints.  

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service in CATS Call Center & CATS Transit Center by answering questions regarding transit services / route information / ticket sales
  • Receive & resolve customer complaints
  • Research & provide detailed information
  • Prepare correspondence to customers & internal staff
  • Receive payments for transit passes
  • Provide customer service to walk-up customers
  • Perform close out & balance receipts
  • Distribute printed transit related material throughout service areas
  • Receive / log items into Lost & Found
  • Process bulk pass sale orders

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong basic writing skills
  • Ability to provide customer service to diverse customer base
  • Explain information with clear & concise communication
  • Effective telephone & interpersonal abilities
  • Computer proficiency with ability to learn new technology as needed
  • Strong clerical skills with ability to type at least 40 wpm
  • Familiarity with Charlotte area
  • Ability to work in team environment
  • Apply logic resolving customer concerns
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass DMV background check
  • Ability to obtain & maintain City driving permit
  • Final candidate subject to polygraph examination

Preferred Qualification

  • Associate’s degree in business or related field
  • One year of call center experience
  • Ability to write / communicate effectively in English & Spanish

Minimum Qualifications

High School Graduate or Equivalent

Conditions of Employment

The City’s Background Check Policy requires background checks to be conducted on final internal or external candidate(s) applying for any position with the City of Charlotte. The type of information that will be collected as part of a background check includes, but is not limited to: reference checks, social security verification, education verification, criminal conviction record check, and, if applicable, a credit history check, sex offender registry and motor vehicle records check.

Background checks must be in compliance with all federal and state statutes, such as the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The checks must be consistent with the guidelines set forth by these laws requiring organizations to obtain a candidate’s written authorization before obtaining a criminal background report, motor vehicle records check or credit report; and to properly store and dispose of information derived from such reports.

Final candidates must pass a pre-employment drug-screening test and physical examination. During the selection process, candidates may be asked to take a skills test, and/or participate in other assessments.
