Summary
The Center for Digital Government named Charlotte one of the top five digital cities in the nation. The City of Charlotte's Innovation & Technology department (I&T) provides executive-level leadership, delivers technology services to city departments and partnership agencies, and coordinates information technology initiatives across the organization to support, enhance and advance citizen service delivery.
The Server Administrator works at the direction of the Aviation Technology Infrastructure Manager for the City of Charlotte, Charlotte Douglas International Airport. The Server Administrator manages servers, both physical and virtual, for the Aviation’s multi-server environment. This position participates in the planning, implementation, configuration, troubleshooting, management and support of Aviation systems including but not limited to passenger supporting systems such as baggage handling, flight information and other systems related to Airport Passenger Systems.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
• Install, configure, and maintain physical server infrastructure
• Install, configure, and maintain VMware servers.
• Monitor system performance and resource utilization, as well as responding to alerts
• Provide technical analysis and/or assistance in troubleshooting issues
• Apply patches, updates, and firmware updates to server systems.
• Initiate and drive server strategies, architecture discussions, and preventative maintenance plans
• Work with vendors to ensure optimal setup and configuration of server environments and that appropriate support expectations are in place
• Create and maintain server related operational policies and procedures
• Comply with the approved standards, policies, and procedures within the culture of compliance that has been established
• Work various shifts, on a sliding schedule and weekends as needed to complete related work

Preferred Qualification
• Associate’s degree with at least 3-5 years of Windows Server experience in an enterprise environment is required.
• 3-5 years of VMWare virtualization technologies in an enterprise environment.
• Prior experience implementing and managing large enterprise server systems.
• Prior experience managing and supporting Enterprise Server Infrastructure that includes Airport Passenger experience systems is a plus.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's level degree with one (1) year of relevant experience
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a city driver’s permit.
Salary
$85,559 – 105,369 Commensurate with Experience

The City’s Background Check Policy requires background checks to be conducted on final internal or external candidate(s) applying for any position with the City of Charlotte.
