Summary

The Center for Digital Government named Charlotte one of the top five digital cities in the nation. The City of Charlotte's Innovation & Technology department (I&T) provides executive-level leadership, delivers technology services to city departments and partnership agencies, and coordinates information technology initiatives across the organization to support, enhance and advance citizen service delivery.

The City of Charlotte Innovation and Technology Department is seeking a Technology Systems Specialist in the Technology Services Division. This position performs within the Enterprise Services Team providing Application Packaging & Automation. These packages include standard and legacy applications, Desktop Operating systems (Windows 10) and Microsoft Office for deployment to systems city wide with minimum or no user intervention. 

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Perform daily tasks from incident management system and project task assignments. 
Packaging of standard and custom applications via VBScript, Advanced Installer or other MSI creation tools for test and deploy throughout the City of Charlotte.
Prepare annual Microsoft Windows OS / Office365 updates for deployment city wide to include city customized settings and feature selections.
Maintain documentation for applications deployment and setting requirements.
Monitoring/remediation of deployments via Microsoft SCCM/MECM.
Assist other team members with Microsoft Windows 10/Office365 and other applications operational, licensing or internal settings.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of desktop virtualization technologies, preferably Microsoft Hyper-V / RDS.
Working knowledge of Windows Command Shell Script, VBScript and PowerShell a plus.
Fluent with Windows 10 deployments, settings, enhancements and features
Ability to work with application owners and vendor support for troubleshooting applications, upgrades and deployment methodologies.  
Proven experience working independently and in a team environment.
Ability to multi-task efficiently in a high volume and critical support role.
Support various I&T Projects with hands on assistance regarding application integrations, upgrades and enhancements and helping to ensure delivery of exceptional services to our employees and citizens.
Proven effective application of Windows Operating systems registry and workstation group policies including multiple Internet Browser support 

Preferred Qualification

Three (3) years’ experience supporting and deployment of Windows 10 in an Enterprise Environment
Two (2) years supporting Microsoft 365 applications both locally and cloud based
Utilization of automation tools and best practices related to application packaging minimizing end user intervention.
Routine use of virtual technologies for testing of automated applications and issue remediation
Identify opportunities to innovate and enhance service delivery through ownership and best practices.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor’s degree with three (3) years of experience working in mid-large Enterprise Environment support end user computing.

Salary

$63,846 - $78,640 Commensurate with Experience
