A class incumbent is responsible for performing a variety of grounds maintenance work; operating equipment and providing assistance to trades personnel as required.
Nature and Scope
An incumbent reports to a technical supervisor and is involved in lawn, grounds and plant care and maintenance as well as trash and litter pickup and removal; maintenance of driveways; parking lots, sweeping, snow and ice removal and grading and repairing pot holes. Significant aspects of work in this class includes operating and maintaining a variety of equipment and hand tools; moving furniture and other items, assisting trade personnel and performing a limited amount of maintenance work as required.
Essential Functions

Plants, transplants, cultivates, irrigates, weeds, mulches, fertilizes, prunes, mows and trims lawns, flowers, shrubs and trees.
Rakes leaves, removes snow and ice from driveways, steps and walkways, loads and unloads trash, debris, supplies and other materials.
Maintains driveways and parking lots by sweeping, grading and repairing holes.
Operates and maintains a variety of equipment and hand tools including mowers, tractors, saws. sprayers, edgers, grass shears and trimmers.
Paints and repairs tables, benches, signs, assists trades and maintenance personnel in painting, minor carpentry, plumbing and repairs as needed.
May act as lead worker over other grounds keeping personnel.
Performs related work as required.

Job Requirements
JOB REQUIREMENTS for Groundskeeper II
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
Six months experience with the operation and basic maintenance of motor vehicles, landscaping or groundskeeping equipment, hand tools and supplies.
Possession of a valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
