Summary StatementA class incumbent determines monetary benefits of unemployment claims in a timely manner according to applicable laws, regulations and guidelines.
Nature and ScopeA class incumbent performs with supervision from the Unemployment Insurance Benefits Supervisor. Other positions reporting in at this level includes Claims Examiners; Claims Clerks; and a Typist. This work involves reviewing claims submitted by the local offices to ensure compliance with federal and state program monetary eligibility guidelines and then calculating actual entitlement to benefits. The incumbent also assists the superior by training other unit personnel and by recommending and implementing changes in office procedures. A significant aspect of this work is full responsibility for the transferring of wages to other states. The incumbent and the unit supervisor authorize and/or verify the data that is generated from this unit.
