Summary Statement

A class incumbent provides case work assistance and support to case managers by providing assistance to clients.

Nature and Scope

A class incumbent supports the case management function by obtaining and verifying client social history for use in the case history. This class is differentiated from the lower level in the series by the degree of client interaction and judgment assigned to positions at this level. Class incumbents perform various functions related to assisting in improving family relations such as supervising family visits, and reporting on behaviors/interaction, providing assistance to parents regarding such problems as household management (meal planning, food storage, clothes shopping for children, etc.). An employee in this class is expected to be a role model to parents regarding appropriate interaction with children. The employee reports observations, concerns and/or progress to the case manager upon completion of the visit. An incumbent may make recommendations on the need for additional services or as directed by a case manager. In addition, an incumbent would assist the case manager by scheduling appointments and transporting clients to required location, or by following up with client and/or provider agency to ensure scheduled appointments are kept by client. While a class incumbent performs duties which require a greater degree of judgment than the lower level in the series, the case manager determines what information should be obtained and/or what problem/behavior should be addressed prior to client contact.
