Correctional Training Instructor (#MACF05)
Summary StatementA class incumbent provides critical training services to support the mission of the Department of Correction (DOC) by developing, delivering and evaluating all curriculums delivered by the Training Academy. A class incumbent ensures the quality, consistency, integration and compliance of training, including evidence-based programs, with all regulatory, certification and accreditation standards.
Nature and ScopeA class incumbent reports to an administrative supervisor and is responsible for the development, delivery, and the professional role modeling of all Department of Correction training curriculums. All DOC staff is required to complete mandatory, basic training, as well as annual refresher training programs, including but not limited to, Correctional Employee Initial Training (CEIT) and Basic Officer Training Course (BOTC). Class incumbents develop and provide training to all DOC staff within both security and non-security classifications. Incumbents develop and prepare staff to maintain discipline and security while working with offenders in Correctional Institutions, Probation and Parole District Offices, and the community. Additionally, incumbents prepare Correctional Officers to work in specialized units such as CERT and Canine Teams. A significant aspect of work includes interacting daily with all ranks and classifications of staff within DOC and providing guidance and expertise on how to perform duties by reinforcing, teaching, interpreting policy, procedures, rules, regulations, laws and legal cases.
