Introduction
The City of Tucson Environmental and General Services Department (EGSD) is seeking experienced
TIRE AND LUBE TECHNICIANS
to assist in a fast-paced Tire and Lube Shop. Individuals need to be experienced with vehicle inspections
to include, but not limited to, tire and wheel repair as well as the changing of fluids, oils and filters.
Individuals will be required to work on-call hours as needed.

A maximum of $1.71 per hour in addition to your base pay upon successful completion or proof of ASE and TIA certification.
General Description
The Senior Fleet Services
Technician maintains fleet vehicle inventory and preventive maintenance
records, and performs preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
Oversees the maintenance of tools, supplies and equipment.
Essential Functions
This position is for SECOND shift from 1:30 p.m. -
10:00 p.m. with shift differential pay of $1.00/hr for hours
worked between 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
This is a senior position. It differs from other positions in
the classification series by performing tasks at a proficient, accomplished
level and handling the more difficult, complex or irregular tasks. Individuals
in senior positions typically assist in setting priorities for work and are
asked upon occasion to use judgment to solve unusual problems.
Maintains vehicle inventory, tracks preventive maintenance
records, works closely with City shops, stocks vehicles with supplies, logs
vehicles, and ensures regulations and requirements are met.
Maintains vehicles by repairing problems, changing tires,
headlights, batteries, washing vehicles, replacing worn or damaged parts, and
changing oil and fluids.
Oversees supplies and vehicle equipment by stocking oil,
transmission fluid, light bulbs, hand radios, first aid kits, cones, telephone
books, flares, and related supplies, and assisting with the distribution of
supplies to substations as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Education Level & Type: High School Diploma or
G.E.D.
Minimum Experience Qualifications: At least 1 year performing
preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment
Valid and Unrestricted Class D - Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications
- Tire Industry Association (TIA) for Automotive and Commercial
Certification
- Experience working with large tires.
- Experience utilizing a vehicle lift.

Upon Completion of all examination processes, the highest scoring
applicants will be placed on the Civil Service Employment List. An applicant's
ranking on the Civil Service Employment List will be based on their final score
which will be calculated as:
- 10% of your
rating for education and work experience
- 90% of
your panel board interview
This recruitment will establish a Civil Service Employment List
that will be utilized to fill vacancies occurring within the next 6
months.
Veterans, Native American, or Disability preference points will be
added to the final score for those that are placed on the Civil Service
Employment List. If you qualify for preference points as outlined in the
Employment Profile, you must upload your documentation as part of the application
