Tucson Water is seeking an experienced customer-service oriented Water Parts Supervisor to serve as a first-line supervisor overseeing the daily operations of five Water warehouse facilities, supporting a variety of department functions.  This position supervises a staff of ten full-time employees and oversees Water’s receiving and inventory control, storage, ordering of parts, equipment, and supplies, as well as the City’s mailroom functions.

**Hours of general operation are Monday – Friday, 6 am – 2:30 pm.
Occasional on-call status and emergency callouts may be required.**

General Description

Supervises the daily operation of a centralized warehouses. Oversees receiving, storage, inventory, and ordering of parts, equipment and/or supplies.

This job reports to: Stores Superintendent 

Essential Functions

• Supervises and coordinates the equivalent of two or more full-time employees and all assigned work in a unit ensuring timely and quality activities to respond to the needs of the City, community, department, and unit.
• Assists with the implementation, evaluation and interpretation of department policies, projects, and procedures.    
• Manages, coordinates, and determines priorities of workload, monitoring levels of resources, establishing timelines, assigning work, monitoring progress, recommending changes and suggestions, writing, reviewing, and editing reports prepared by staff, and approving completed projects and reports.   
• Coordinates acquisition and distribution of specialty water production parts, components, and materials
• Manages and maintains inventory levels.  Analyzes inventory reports to prepare requisitions, places orders, and replenishes depleted stocks.
• Special orders parts.  Researches correct materials, conducts visual inspections of like products.
• Prepares data processing transmittals and enters p-card data to record financial transactions
• Provides customer service by responding to information requests, conducting research, providing solutions to problems and correcting errors. 
• Controls inventory by reviewing and identifying corrections to requisitions, researching goods, services and vendors, adding and removing items from inventories, ensuring contracts are correct, monitoring and verifying interface information in the computer system, contracting vendors for delivery and arranging for alternate vendors. 
• Implements controls for appropriate unit staffing and effectiveness by participating in the recruitment and hiring of employees, making recommendations on employee discipline, and other human resources issues; evaluates and manages employee performance by discussing and identifying personnel issues and facilitating resolutions, promoting positive morale in the unit, ensuring staff is trained appropriately for maximum performance, and providing leadership and guidance. 
• Receives orders by overseeing the unloading of trucks, checking purchase orders and packing slips, verifying current stock on hand and posting and preparing invoices. 
• Oversees the rearrangement of warehouses and yards, manages the rental program, and cleans and maintains warehouses.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education Level & Type: High School Diploma or G.E.D.

Minimum Experience Qualifications: At least 4 years of experience in warehousing, stores, and inventory activities.

Valid and Unrestricted Class D - Driver's License

An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the ability to successfully perform the essential functions may be considered. 

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the above minimum qualifications as well as relevant experience in the areas listed below:
• Previous supervisory experience
• Experience in a water utility
• Completion of City of Tucson’s Ignite Supervisory Training series

Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be evaluated on the education and work experience in their employment profile and the responses to their supplemental questions. The highest scoring applicants will then be invited to participate in an in-person Oral Board interview. 
  
• In-person Oral Board Interviews will be held June 21 and June 23, 2023

Upon completion of all examination processes, the highest scoring applicants will be placed on the Civil Service Employment List.  An applicant's ranking on the Civil Service list will be based on their final score which will be calculated as:  
    
• 10% of your rating for education and work experience 
• 90% of your oral board interview    

Hiring interviews may be conducted post-list by the hiring manager.

This recruitment will establish a civil service list that may be utilized to fill Tucson Water vacancies occurring within the next 6 months.
