The City of Tucson Parks and Recreation Department is currently seeking reliable, dependable
GENERAL MAINTENANCE WORKERS
for the general maintenance of the City of Tucson parks
This is a non-permanent position that will work on an intermittent or seasonal basis.
Individuals in this classification may not exceed 1,300 hours in a 12-month period.
General Maintenance Workers are responsible for all outdoors maintenance of parks, landscaped areas, and manual construction tasks.
Work shifts are generally from 6:00 A.M. to 2:30 P.M., but may vary during scheduled events such as tournaments and games. Some weekends and holiday work is expected.
*With new and upcoming programs in Parks and Recreation, some position may offer work shifts from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.*
Removes litter and debris from landscaped areas, playgrounds and other public facilities
Cleaning, disinfecting, and servicing of parks public restrooms and ramadas for special events and rental/reservations
Assists in moving and setting up booths, bleachers, tables, benches, and other equipment used by the public for civic events
Assists in the installation, painting, and repair of playground equipment, ramadas, barbecue pits and stands, tables and benches, signs, booths, bleachers, fences, small buildings, and other structures and equipment.
Collects parks area trash
Assists in performing manual tasks associated with general landscaping projects, including weeding
Assists in general manual construction projects
Assists with preparing and maintaining various types of sport fields including baseball, softball, football, and soccer
Perform other duties as required
Minimum Education Level & Type: Less than High School
Minimum Experience Qualifications: Under 1 year of professional experience in landscape maintenance or custodial services
Valid and Unrestricted Class D - Driver's License
Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be evaluated on the education and work experience in their employment profile and the response to their supplemental questions.
The highest scoring applicants will be placed in the "Best Qualified" and "Qualified" band (grouping) list and provided to the hiring department for a selection decision. An Applicant's placement on the list will be based on their final score which will be calculated as:
