Introduction

The Business Services Department is seeking a dependable, motivated individual to provide professional-level customer service to its customers.

Employees must work between several city facilities to perform work assignments.

General Description

Accepts and processes payments, fines, donations and other fees, and provides customer service.

Essential Functions

Processes mail by opening and separating mail, preparing customer accounts for payment and matching bills and checks.

Handles monies by posting payments to accounts, preparing deposits, and receiving, logging and verifying deposit bags.

Operates the cash desk by preparing and balancing funds for deposit, verifying and balancing accounts, researching and correcting deposits that are out of balance, researching unidentified checks and monitoring cashiers.

Provides customer service by answering questions and researching information.

Performs related duties by training employees, answering questions, maintaining supplies and equipment, and checking and ordering inventory.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education Level & Type: High School Diploma or G.E.D.

Minimum Experience Qualifications: Under 1 year of experience handling money and other forms of payment

Selection Plan

Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be evaluated on the education and work experience in their employment profile, their resume, and the responses to their supplemental questions. The highest scoring applicants will then be invited to participate in a virtual Oral Board Interview.

  • Oral Board Interview will be held March 2, 2023 (via Microsoft Teams app)

Upon completion of all examination processes, the highest scoring applicants will be placed on the Civil Service Employment List.  An applicant's ranking on the Civil Service list will be based on their final score which will be calculated as:      

  • 10% of your rating for education and work experience
  • 10% of your resume score
  • 80% of your oral board interview

This recruitment will establish a civil service list that will be utilized to fill vacancies occurring within the next 6 months.

Veterans, Native American, or Disability preference points will be added to the final score for those that are placed on the Civil Service Employment List.  If you qualify for preference points as outlined in the Employment Profile, you must upload your documentation as part of the application process or email it to Curtis.Rohlfs@tucsonaz.gov. The DD 214 must be a copy that indicates characterization of service.
