The City of Tucson is recruiting for a Master Level Clinician that will focus on the mental health and wellness of public safety personnel. Public safety personnel are exposed to calls for service such as child abuse, suicide, domestic violence, officer-involved shootings, traffic fatalities, and other calls as part of their regular duties and responsibilities. Providing support to personnel using various techniques and tools will assist in minimizing members experiencing negative physical, cognitive, emotional, and behavioral reactions. Provides mental health counseling and wellness consultation to Public Safety personnel. May serve as project leader under the direction of the department psychologist or chain of command.
This job reports to: Police Psychologist/BSU Administrator
Provides routine and emergency psychological and wellness services to department personnel and their immediate family members by providing counseling, consultation and/or referral services.
Assists department psychologist in relevant behavioral sciences and wellness matters throughout the agency.
Assists with monitoring levels of resources, establishing timelines, assigning work, monitoring progress, recommending changes and suggestions, writing, reviewing, and editing reports prepared by staff.
Assists with discussing and identifying personnel issues and facilitating resolutions, promoting positive morale, training staff for maximum performance and providing guidance.
Remains aware of available mental health and wellness resources and makes referrals as appropriate.
Develops and implements psychological education programs and classes.
Assists with the implementation, evaluation and interpretation of department policies, projects, and procedures.
Contributes to the needs of the community and City by implementing the organization's values and strategies by leading through example, competency, and accountabilities.
Provides customer service by responding to assigned information requests, conducting research, providing solutions to problems, and correcting errors.
Education Level & Type: Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work or Behavioral Health related field from an accredited college or university.
Minimum Experience Qualifications: A minimum of 3 years post-graduate experience as a licensed psychotherapist working with adults.
Driver’s License & Type: Valid and Unrestricted Class D - Driver's License
The ideal candidate will have one (1) year of documented post-graduate experience providing psychological services to public safety personnel or documented experience as a consultant to a public safety agency.
To ensure accurate payroll information for tax purposes, the successful candidate will need to provide their original Social Security Card or original letter from the Social Security Administration with their social security number prior to beginning work with the City of Tucson.

Creditable service does not accrue during any reemployment period.
