Introduction

The City of Tucson Parks and Recreation Department is seeking

SCOREKEEPERS

who are responsible for keeping accurate score and time for sport events.

General Description

This non-permanent position will work on an intermittent or seasonal basis.

Individuals in this classification may not exceed 1,300 hours in 12 months.

Work shifts are generally Monday - Thursday evening hours.

The Scorekeeper Recreation Worker is not a coaching or officiating position and implements track and field events and provides score keeper for adult sport leagues.  This position will act as a scorekeeper and are responsible for set-up and breakdown of equipment used in league play. They also maintain accurate and official score and time of assigned sports events.

Essential Functions

Responsible for set-up and breakdown of equipment

Knowledge of basic sport league operations

Ability to work well with the public

Communicates well and has experience with conflict resolution

Displays good teamwork and cooperation

Knowledge of sport equipment set up

Ability to lift/carry up to 35 pounds

Adhere to applicable Parks and Recreation procedures, rule and regulations; complete required forms and activity records and reports

Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. Any one position may not include all of the duties listed

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education Level & Type: Less than High School

Minimum Experience Qualifications: Three months of full-time employment and/or volunteer experience involving customer contact

Special Job Requirements

At least 16 years of age at time of application

All candidates must be able to obtain CPR/First Aid certification and pass a background screening upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience as a scorekeeper

Selection Plan

Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be evaluated on their employment profile's education, work experience, and response to the supplemental questions. The highest scoring applicants will be invited to participate in an Oral Board Interview.

  • Oral Board Interviews will be held: the Week of February 20, 2023

The highest scoring applicants will be placed in the "Best Qualified" and "Qualified" band (grouping) and provided to the hiring department for a selection decision. An applicant's placement on the list will be based on their final score, which will be calculated as:

  • 20% of your rating for Training and Experience
  • 80% of your Oral Board Interview
