The City of Tucson Information Technology Department (ITD) is seeking two collaborative, customer service centric, and detail-oriented IT Analysts to join our IT Asset Management Team to manage our warehouse inventory and to be primary point of contact for all hardware ordering.  As part of a three-person team reporting to the IT Supervisor - ITAM, these positions will be responsible for ordering, receiving, and tracking all City technology hardware and software throughout the lifecycle from purchasing to disposal. The selected candidates should have good written and verbal communication skills and experience managing hardware and software assets in a corporate setting.

· Ensure clean, orderly and efficient facility is maintained.

· Maintain and update computer systems and workflow.

· Maintain and update team documentation.

· Maintain efficient asset management processes and policy.

· Maintain vendor relationships and coordinate deliveries.

· Receive inventory, manage stock, pull hardware for delivery, coordinate disposal of assets.

· Purchase hardware and software assets.

General Description

Designs, develops, deploys and supports technical solutions. Classification maintains contracts, web and server applications, programs and related infrastructure for disciplines within the IT Department. The IT Analyst will work with the Systems Administrators supporting the City’s Enterprise Infrastructure systems such as, Active Directory, Email, backup, storage systems, and servers.

This position may also require a broad technical background and knowledge of hardware specification and compatibility, software and/or hardware support, ability to track and manage IT procurement projects/acquisitions, participation in projects, upgrade deployment, ability to define and document procedures, applications or other methods for sharing knowledge and achieving consistent results. This position may also involve developing, designing, and testing web and server applications.

Essential Functions

Works with Vendors to establish and maintain standards that meet the business requirements

Applies enhancements, troubleshoots and solves daily production problems, and monitors daily system activities

Elicits and documents system and process requirements

Documents supported web and server applications using established forms and processes

Writes system specifications using established forms and processes

Designs, develops and tests custom web and server programs

Analyzes business processes

Communicates clearly, both verbally and in writing, to both technical and non-technical audiences to inform the user community, management and peers of the work being accomplished

Collaborates with internal business partners to source, select and contract with suppliers to obtain savings, improve product quality, and maintain overall cost competitiveness

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education Level & Type: Associate's Degree

Minimum Experience Qualifications: At least 2 years of experience working with the applications in a technical or business analyst role

Selection Plan

Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be evaluated on the education and work experience in their employment profile and the responses to their supplemental questions. The highest scoring applicants will be invited to participate in a virtual oral board interview.

  • Virtual Oral boards will be held on February 1, 2023 via Microsoft Teams

Upon completion of all examination processes, the highest scoring applicants will be placed on the Civil Service Employment List.  An applicant's ranking on the Civil Service list will be based on their final score which will be calculated as:      

  • 20% of your rating for your resume
  • 80% of your rating for oral board

This recruitment will establish a civil service list that will be utilized to fill vacancies occurring within the next 6 months.
