The City of Tucson Parks and Recreation Department is looking for a energetic and detail orientated

CUSTODIAN

to assist at Donna Liggins Center.

General Description

The Custodian cleans, sanitizes and maintains public facilities and surrounding areas.

The Donna Liggins Center is a busy community based, gymnasium, senior program, multi-use facility.

Essential Functions

Cleans and maintains the interior of buildings by emptying trash and recycling bins, vacuuming, stripping, polishing, sweeping, wet mopping, and spot cleaning floors, cleaning and sanitizing weight room and restrooms, moving furniture as needed, dusting and cleaning furniture, windows, surfaces, and fixtures, and restocking supplies in restrooms.

Set up and breakdown of facility rentals.

Cleans and maintains the exterior of buildings by sweeping and cleaning walkways, emptying ashtrays and trash cans, and removing litter and debris from grounds.

Reads material safety data sheets, labels on cleaning supplies, work orders, procedures, and equipment manuals to determine proper cleaning course of action.

Performs related duties by reporting maintenance problems, setting up equipment for special events, securing the building, reporting emergencies, checking equipment and facilities for damage, monitoring inventory, and ordering supplies.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education Level & Type: High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent

Minimum Experience Qualifications: No experience required 

Preferred Qualifications

Experience performing full range of custodial services for a business or commercial facility.

Selection Plan

Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be evaluated on the education and work experience in their employment profile and the responses to their supplemental questions. The highest scoring applicants will then be invited to participate in an Oral Board interview.

  • Oral Board Interviews will be held: the week of October 10, 2022

Upon completion of all examination processes, the highest scoring applicants will be placed on a Civil Service Eligibility List.  An applicant's ranking on the Civil Service Eligibility List will be based on their final score which will be calculated as:

  • 20% of your rating for education and work experience
  • 80% of your oral board interview

Selection Interviews may be conducted post Civil Service Eligibility List by the hiring manager.

This recruitment will establish a Civil Service Eligibility List that may be utilized to fill vacancies occurring at Tucson Parks and Recreation within the next 6 months.

Veterans, Native Americans, or Disability preference points will be added to the final score for those that are placed on the Civil Service Eligibility List.  If you qualify for preference points as outlined in the Employment Profile, you must present your documentation at the Oral Board interviews.  The DD 214 must be a copy that indicates the characterization of the service.
